Brief biography of Konstantin Vasiliev

Looking at the mysterious and fascinating paintings of K. A. Vasiliev, the viewer is stunned by the subtlety and beauty of the paintings, an incomprehensible anxiety arises in the soul, various thoughts appear in the head. The artist manages to reflect the idea in a way that touches and encourages strong feelings even in the most callous person.

K. A. Vasiliev was concerned about problems that were of a universal nature. He was concerned with the question-what unknown force has been preserving in nature, in man, and in his thoughts and deeds for centuries. Everything that is necessary for the life of a nation, for example, the Slavs?

For Konstantin Alekseevich, the study of the culture of the Slavs became an interesting and entertaining task. The face of the God of fertility and the spirit of the underworld, whose name was Velez, disappeared in the understanding of the real Slaven. In folk tales, he was not strict and ruthless. On the contrary, it represented one nation together with the living and the dead.

Taking the deceased to another world, Velez passed it back from the earth in the form of a new sprout. Such an interesting face of the Slavs ‘ God was carried through the centuries. Memories of them have been preserved to this day: in fairy tales, in songs, and in myths. All people reach for their origins, roots.

And there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s like a sprout that reaches for the sun’s rays, breaking through the asphalt. Perhaps this is what once awakened the artist in the mind to start drawing masterpieces with a talented brush.

The talented artist was born on September 3, 1942 in Maykop . His mother, Claudia Armenovna, all free time gave to their children. It was she who gathered a huge library and introduced them to the works of literature and art.

His father, Alexey Alekseevich, worked as an engineer at the factory and was a member of the partisan movement.

Constantine began to draw early. Only at eleven, he passed the competition and enrolled in the Moscow art secondary school named after V. I. Surikov, then studied at the Kazan school, which he graduated with a medal and received a profession as a theater decorator.

He loved learning, learning new things, and honing his skills. Therefore, he constantly spent time in libraries and archives.

Most of K. A. Vasiliev’s works were devoted to epic themes. He did not just draw them, but was a part of this world, lived in it. When starting a new work, the artist carefully thought out, looking for a special move, angle, image.

His most famous works are: “the Northern eagle”, “Waiting”, “the Lament of Yaroslavna”, “The man with the owl” and many others.

Died October 29, 1976 there are many versions about his death. One of them was hit by a train. They buried him in a birch grove, where he was very fond of visiting.
